Looted Note: This is an extremely rare and hard to find note. The importance of this note is significant with regard to history behind it. Here's a brief sketch of events that brought this note to limelight which in turn made it one of the most sought after Pakistani notes among collectors:
During the Civil unrest Of 1971, which eventually culminated into a full fledge war, in the then East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) , the banks were subjected to looting by the Bengali insurgents. These insurgents were using these notes for propaganda purposes by stamping or inscribing different slogans on them.
To evade the liability caused to the State Bank because of the large scale theft and looting of the notes, the State bank and Government were constrained to demonetized these notes. It came as a surprise to public at large. However, the general public was given an option to submit these notes and get a receipt for issuance of the replacement notes that were circulated in a hurry instead.
The State Bank meanwhile had short listed the serial numbers of notes that were looted. Hence whenever the serial numbers of the notes- brought for exchange- coincided with the serial numbers in the list issued by state bank of looted notes, such notes were impounded and stamped to that effect. Even though majority of these notes were destroyed some notes "trickled out" from the system and found their way largely in the collection of avid note collectors.
Needless to say these notes are scarce and equally significant. DON'T MISS THIS NOTE FOR YOU MAY NEVER FIND ANOTHER ONE (At least in the near future).
