I am selling our magnificient front door made from solid oak. It has come directly from our house built in the 1920s and other properties on the same street still continue to use the same door (which is how we presume it is the original door which was fitted when the house was built).
Wonderfully reflective of the style of property from the 1920s:
- Three decorative leaded glass panels (each 59x14cm) - each section of glass (13 in each panel) is encased in iron. Apparently doors of this period had these panels fitted so that guests would look through and delight in the depth of the hallway/house. We sprayed a slight frosting over the glass for privacy purposes but this is easily removable to return it to its former glory.
- chunky iron nails and fittings.
- three vertical bevelled panels.
We are also including the door frame - no signs of rot, in very good condition and absolutely reuseable.
Condition:
Given its age, this door is in excellent condition, but does obviously show signs of wear. Fittings may also need to be polished/refitted etc.
A few of the leaded panels may need to be reset - they are all there but some pieces are slightly loose. Will look absolutely beautiful once reset.
Door measurements:
Depth: 4.5cm
Width: 91cm
The door is not entirely level horizontally (this is possibly due to its age and the fact that it is solid wood):
Height on left (nearest locks): 201cm
Height on right (nearest hinges): 202cm
Locks / Fittings:
Hinges - the door is afixed to frame with three brass-like hinges (currently unhinged from frame).
Locks - fitted with one Ingersol lock & one Yale type lock.
Keys: at least 3 sets can be supplied.
Letterbox: lovely brass-type letterbox fitted vertically (see pics)
Ths is a really characterful, unusual and authentic door which is guaranteed to bring any period property to life. The detail in the door is a true reflection of the expert craftsmanship of the time.
